Saturday 30th December - walk *** – Nacton Shores including a picnic – cloudy with light rain.

Decided to give windsurfing a miss today which left me free to do my exercises, then Mag suggested we pack lunch and drove over to Nacton Shores near Ipswich for a walk along the River Orwell despite the gloom! We park at the top of Nacton Shore lane around 1.30 and head down through the woods to the river, the tide was very high and there was a keen onshore breeze so not very inspiring but at least we had made the effort. Our plan was to walk to the right but the start of the path was under water, we managed to get past on the river bank, just but the path through the woods was very muddy and the wooden walkways pretty slippery so not great! There was a couple of yachts out and a moth dinghy, that’s a foil boat, whizzing about over by Pin Mill. We could not make it as far as the thatched cottage for lunch so returned to a picic table at Nacton Shore and for the second picnic in a row it rained on us, luckily it was light! After a quick but yummy lunch we walked through the trees to the left sheltered from the rain and breeze and the path was not as muddy! Then home for a warming cuppa and hot water bottle!
